Which K-Dramas Can Motivate You to Study? (Part 2)

Unlike the common misconception, there are some K-dramas that can motivate students to study. Don’t believe me, here’s one!

Dream High

Dream High

When you have a dream and that dream is all you want to achieve, you work towards it. Your complete focus is only towards making that dream into reality. However, what happens when you dream big?

While there is nothing about dreaming big or dreaming high, the issue with it is that you’ll have to put a lot of hard work and extra effort into fulfilling that dream. And, according to some, the bigger the dream, the bigger and more painful the heartbreak.

Released in 2011, Dream High is a South Korean television series starring famous A-list stars like Bae Suzy, Kim Soo-hyun, Lee Ji-eun (IU) and Ok Taec-yeon, along with Ham Eun-jung, Jang Woo-young. The drama follows the lives of six interesting youngsters who compete head-on for a talent competition in order to enroll in a school called Kirin Art High School.

The drama then follows with different challenges and obstacles that the students have to face in order to achieve their dreams of becoming super music stars in the Korean music industry.

However, what’s unique and interesting about this drama is that it uses the lives, dreams and challenges of these students to encourage you to dream big –even when it seems impossible to –and to try everything in your power to achieve it.

For instance, there was this episode where Go Hye-mi, Song Sam Dong, Jason and Kim Pil-sook participated in a dance competition even though they knew they were the only ones who stood with less chance of winning. But, among all students, Song Sam Don’s struggles and success is the most inspiring example. Despite being always ridiculed at school for being a “country pumpkin” and ignored by his first love, he always had an optimistic and happy-go-lucky attitude. And, even when he finds out about his hearing loss, he doesn’t give up his love and passion for music.

Overall, Dream High is a K-drama that would drive you by an intense desire to achieve something, whatever it may be. It would give you the courage to focus on whatever crazy idea or dream you may have and will also give you the willpower to work towards it.

Dream High Quotes:

“Truthfully, whether these students have potential… I don’t have the answer. But of one thing I’m certain. That these students, more than anyone here, want to fly… because they love the stage like crazy, because their dream is so beautiful, they believe that their road is a happy one. Telling them not to start because they might get hurt… is cruel, is it not? I think loving something like crazy is potential. I saw that potential today. So trusting that potential, I want to tell them to try and fly. I don’t know how big their wings are, but I want to tell them to start. And to make sure the road is happy, I’m going to put my full strength behind them.” – Oh-Hyuk

“Your drama has a long way to go before it’s over. So don’t force yourself to go quickly. If you go slowly, you can see a lot more, in more detail, than the people who go quickly. If you ask me who would grow more between those two, I’d say it’s the one who goes slowly and sees a lot.” – Oh-hyuk

“Do you know what it means to become an adult? It means there’s less and less to smile about. So we’ll have to smile even more, even if we have to force it.” – Sam-dong

”Once I had a dream of my own, I realized… that there are no dreams that should be laughed at in this world.” – Jin-gook
